The Webb Wagg and Trickett connection is supported by DNA!

Back in May, there were posts about the Sarah Wagg (nee Turner) and Jane Trickett (nee Turner) and their parents George Turner and Mary Hand.

A bit of a recap of what we've found to date....

With traditional family history research, we know of two children from George and Mary's marriage - Sarah born on 21 October 1832 and Jane born about 1841.  We're still trying to locate Jane's birth registration - elusive in spite of much searching and money spent on transcripts!  Jane's birth date is based on her death registration.

We're still searching for information on Mary Hand.  This will be covered in a later post...

George Turner died in 1847 when Sarah was 15 and Jane was about 6.  There's no evidence that Mary was part of the girls life at this time.  Jane was a witness at Sarah and William Wagg's wedding in 1853 but she was only about 12!

A few months ago, we decided to see if DNA testing supported our research.

I am one of the six descendants of Albert Hayden (Hayden) and Josephine Webb Wagg who had previously tested.  The results support our family tree.

Also, I have a DNA match with a descendant of Christopher Henry (Chris) and Ellen Eliza (Nellie) Webb which supports the relationship shown in our family tree.

A descendant of John and Jane Trickett tested recently to see if there was a DNA match with descendants of William and Sarah Wagg that supported the relationship shown in our family tree.  The results came back last Friday and, to our great excitement, support our relationship as 3rd cousins 1x removed along with the relationship to four of the other descendants of Hayden and Josephine Webb Wagg.

So there we have it.....we've used our DNA results to show that Sarah and Jane were indeed sisters!

If you have or are interested in DNA testing, I'd like to hear from you as it will help us find out more about our family.
